Auckland factory death: 18yo gets home detention for manslaughter

An 18-year-old man has been sentenced to home detention for the death of a teenager at a factory in Auckland's East Tamaki.

Lima Terry Feleti pleaded guilty to one charge of manslaughter at the High Court in November.

Hamuwera Holloway, 19, died after the incident in early September last year.

Feleti was on bail for another assault charge at the time of the offending. He was originally charged with assault with a weapon, but police later upgraded that charge.

This morning, Justice Kit Toogood sentenced Feleti to 10 month's home detention.

Justice Toogood took into consideration his age, guilty plea, and remorse for his offending.

Mr Holloway's family were in the court for the sentencing and Feleti was supported by family and members of his church.
