Earth is a Ball #1: This blog isn't going to write itself

By: Shane Boyle

Welcome to ‘Earth is a ball’ - a football blog where you can hear stories told by kids from around Oceania as they participate in the 2018 Gazprom Football for Friendship programme in Moscow, Russia.

The programme, which runs from 8-15 June, brings together two 12-year-old children from each of the 211 participating countries on an all expenses paid trip to Russia in the lead up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Delegates will be exposed to once in a lifetime experiences including attending the opening match of the World Cup as Russia take on Saudi Arabia on 15 June at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

One child from each country will attend as a player. One child from each country will attend as a young journalist.

The young player will receive coaching and play in a one day tournament against other young players from around the world.

The young journalist will be given guidance and training and will be asked to produce some journalistic contributions throughout the campaign.

This blog isn’t going to write itself. Not at all. Senior journalists, alongside participating young journalists, will write this blog and tell their very own Russia World Cup story from a very unique perspective.
