Reports of boat debris and a possible body has sparked a search of a west coach beach near Raglan.
Police were alerted on Sunday night by a member of the public who reported seeing debris washed up on the rocks near Papanui Point - a rugged west coast spot north of Ruapuke, reports Stuff..
"Police and search and rescue will be going to an area near Stony Beach in Raglan following a report of boat debris and possibly a body being sighted on the rocky shore," says Waikato police Senior Sergeant Phil Ruddell.
"Due to the nature of the terrain and the uncertainty of what search and rescue were looking for, the search was held off until this morning and daylight."
Police have had one report from a member of the public.
