Mid Canterbury Heartland rugby player Tom Hanham-Carter has hit the ground running at the Jock Hobbs Under 19 Memorial Tournament in Taupo.
Hanham-Carter, who plays his club rugby in Rakaia, notched up all 19 of the Heartland side’s points in their 19-16 win against the Auckland Development side, including a match-winning penalty.
The first-five scored a try which he converted.
He also knocked over four penalties, with the most important one coming in the final minutes to win the game.
The Heartland side will now face Southland tomorrow in the semi-final of the Michael Jones Trophy, the championship bracket of the tournament.
